How It Works
The programme works on the pigment-producing cells in the skin to reduce the formation of excess melanin and slow its return, while helping to lift existing pigment. The in-clinic mask delivers the initial intensive action, and the prescribed home-care routine maintains and builds on that result over the following weeks and months.
What Happens in a Session
At your in-clinic appointment we assess and prepare the skin, then apply the Cosmelan™ mask evenly across the treatment area. You’ll keep the mask on for a set period, often continuing at home, before removing it as directed. We then guide you carefully through the prescribed aftercare routine, including the home products, how and when to use them, and the all-important sun-protection steps. We’ll explain exactly what to expect in the days that follow, and schedule a follow-up to monitor your progress and adjust your routine as your skin responds.
Downtime & Aftercare
Expect redness, flaking, dryness and some sensitivity over the first week or so as the skin renews. This settles with the prescribed aftercare. Diligent sun protection is essential throughout and well beyond, as UV and heat can undo the results.
Sessions & Frequency
An initial intensive mask phase is followed by an ongoing home-maintenance routine. A clear follow-up plan is set at consultation, as melasma in particular needs ongoing management.
Suitability
Suitable for many skin types, but it requires a consultation to confirm suitability and properly prepare the skin. Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding. A strong commitment to the home-care and sun-protection steps is needed for it to work.
